B'HAM LEAGUE RESULTS

BWFC Whites over 58’s played a league match against Coleshill on Sunday and came away with a 1-1 draw.

MATCH REPORT

+58’s BWFC (whites) 1- 1 COLESHILL

An entertaining end to end encounter between these two old rivals finished 1-1 with both teams having good chances to win the game.

A scrappy first 15 minutes saw both teams reduced to six players following blue cards from referee Brendan Maxwell, who had an excellent game, an opening goal from JOHN SPARKES for Birmingham and an equaliser for Coleshill. The match mostly settled down after that rather feisty quarter hour and saw spells of dominance from both teams with the two keepers being called on several times. Half time came and went with neither team able to find a way to score though several attempts were, almost amazingly, fired wide or high when a goal seemed to have been certain. Both Whites keeper Les Dawson and the Strollers keeper were required to demonstrate their shot stopping abilities as the game continued to ebb and flow. In the end a draw was probably a fair result – though both teams will believe that it could have been better with a bit of luck.

Birmingham Whites 58s: Les Dawson, Martin Barber, Roger Purchase, Mark Evans, John Sparkes, David Wright, Richard Dawson, Peter Giddings, Kevin McCabe, Steve White (player manager), Mike Price (assistant manager)

BWFC Blues had no league game so played in a friendly against Boldmere Redsand also came away with a draw, this time 2-2 with Martin Brick and Mark Tranter on the score sheet.
