Our People’s Cup adventure came to an end today for our ladies. The girls did amazingly well against some very stiff opposition. We finished a creditable third in our group with both of the teams above us eventually qualifying for the finals at St George’s Park next month; we wish them both well.
We won one game, drew one game and lost two – both losses against the teams who qualified so I think we can be very proud of our achievements. 5-a-side is tough at any time but for a group of walking footballers playing running 5-a-side against much younger teams (our average age today was 52) it’s especially tough. However the girls never gave up and we are proud of every one of them!
Squad: Alli, Caroline, Dee, Jan, Sue H, Sue M, Truley. Goal scorers: Truley (2), Alli.
